Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn at White River State Park is a beautiful amphitheater venue located just west of downtown Indy. We had the chance to catch Flogging Molly with openers Mariachi El Bronx and Gogol Bordello. All three bands were amazing and only made better by the location. The outdoor venue is the perfect place for nearly any type of concert. The sound is perfect and the atmosphere is relaxed. The stage is located so that the sun sets directly behind it adding natures wonders to every show. The Lawn is set up to having seating areas for an upgraded price. During some concerts there are lawn seats on a first come first serve basis. Flogging Molly was not one of those concerts. Behind the crowd you can see the buildings of downtown towering over you and reflecting the sunset back towards the Lawn.
Be prepared to bring in 1 sealed water bottle and 1 Ziploc bag of snacks per person or pay the exorbitant cost for food and drink (4.50 for water). If you are over 21 and want to drink there is a wide variety of drinks available including tents that have “Full Bars” where the taps are on the side of semi trucks. Again the drink prices are inflated so I suggest continuing the concert at one of the many downtown bars (canned beer is around 9 dollars).
I am hoping to see many more concerts here over the next few years including some of the free events that are held during the year.
